Hugo Soares was born in 1987 in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. Currently, he is a second year student of sculpture at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Porto. Between 2006 and 2009 he attended a Degree in Art History. As a complementary formation, in 2007, attended a course of “Body Drawing”, also at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Porto. In 2010 attended a master class by Eduardo Souto Moura (Sustainability in Art, Architecture and Design) and participated in a conference named “Unneeded Conversations, practice and theory of Art”.

Nowadays, he is the editor and chief of the department of visual arts of Trama magazine (College of Architecture at University of Porto), he is also editorial assistant of the “(Des)locations” project (Master of Art and Design for Public Space – FBAUP). He is the co-founder of the artists’ collective “ueh.Pro Antibiótico” and SABA with João Gigante. He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Art History, having a conducted research in the field of Art History and Contemporary Art, published in several articles.

Since 2006, he has participated in about forty exhibitions and projects, such as: “Antropomorfismo”, Porto; 6th Youth Art Show, Barcelos; “Evolution”, Vila Garcia de Arousa, Spain; 11th Arte na Leira, Caminha; 2nd International Festival of Painting, Colombia; 2nd Collective of Christmas Panting at Op Art Gallery, Aveiro; “Look Helena e Arpad”, Palacete Pinto Leite, Porto; “Madeira”, Lisbon; “Arte Maio”, France; Young Creator 2010, Aveiro; “Miragens”, Viana do Castelo.
